This past May, Daybreak Productions and Sparkle on Stage presented their second live staged reading, The Raindrop Princess—an original play written by forthcoming playwright Jess Ridley from Windsor, Ontario, CA. The story follows Princess Josephine, born with a unique ability to control the weather with her plain emotions, who the evil Count Lamont has exploited to maintain his iron-fisted rule over the kingdom of Dulcinea. Through self-discovery and friendships along the way, Josie can deduce the truth about why she has been locked in a tower and put an end to Count Lamont’s plans.
The rehearsal process spanned from late April to throughout May in a hybrid format to ensure all our performers could actively participate in the adventure with a cast ranging from ages 7 to 64. Due to a high demand to see the show from outside Long Island, tickets were sold both in person and virtually, thus creating our first unexpected success.
